Lumien
A tile home screen. Square, honest, and yours to arrange.
Coming to Play
Lumien is a home screen built out of tiles. Not icons on a wallpaper — flat rectangles of colour, arranged the way you want them, in the tradition of the tile launchers that got this right the first time.
Arrange it properly
Drag a tile anywhere there is room. Neighbours make way when you hold a tile over them, and a tile held between two rows opens a new one. Drag the corner to resize, from a single cell up to four across. Empty rows close themselves up.
Say what a tile shows
Icon and text, icon alone, or text alone. Give it a colour from your palette, or a colour of its own that nothing else can change.
Colours you actually control
Take both from your wallpaper and let Android choose, or pick the tile colour and the accent yourself — separately, including grey. Decide how many shades of the tile colour you want. There are four ready-made sets and a generator if you would rather roll one.
Tiles that are doing something
A clock that fills its tile. The next appointment. Weather with the hours and the days ahead, and a sky behind it that knows whether it is raining. Daylight as an arc from sunrise to sunset, with the sun under the horizon at night. Battery as ten lit pixels. Storage, steps, screen time, the moon, a countdown, a person, what is playing, and photo tiles that drift slowly across the picture.
The rest
Any ADW-compatible icon pack you already own, plus monochrome, white, black or untouched treatments. Named sections you can order. An alphabetical, searchable app list with the search bar at whichever end you reach. Notification counts in the corner of a tile, in a colour chosen to stay visible on every tile you can paint.
What it sends
No account. No advertising. No analytics. Nothing about you leaves your phone except a pair of coordinates for the weather, and only if you put a weather tile on the screen.
Android 12 and later. Portrait.
